Jamal Musiala is self-critical of himself. Despite 20 goal contributions in 38 games across all competitions last season, the Bayern Munich star believes he’s becoming a more complete player this campaign with 13 goals contributions (nine goals and four assists) in 14 games already season.
Opening the scoring against Bochum, Musiala netted his first goal of the season from outside the area, something that has been missing from the German’s game.
“I practised shooting from distance in training and I’m very happy it’s worked out today,” Musiala told Sky Germany. “It was my first goal from outside the box this season. I’m always working to improve.”
A key player for Vincent Kompany this season, Musiala’s game continues to evolve.
When questioned whether or not he’s becoming a more complete player this season, Musiala said: “I think I already made the steps forward last season. The goals and assists were a bit missing, but I’m getting them along with good performances.
“I’m feeling better and trying to play as many games at a high level as possible.” (h/t: iMiaSanMia)
Musiala scored the only goal in Bayern Munich’s 1-0 win against St. Pauli at the Millerntor, extending their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga to 10 games this season (eight wins, two draws), which puts them six points clear of second-place RB Leipzig, who play Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Topspiel.
