Omar Marmoush is the latest guest on the Official Man City Podcast!
Released on CITY+ on Thursday 18 December at 18:00 (UK), the Egypt international sits down with host Sam Cox to discuss his career so far.
From Wadi Degla in his homeland to Pep Guardiola’s side via a fantastic spell in Germany with Wolfsburg then Eintracht Frankfurt, the versatile attacker recalled how he first learned of the Blues interest on the episode.
After a conversation with his father, Marmoush admitted he was taken aback but ready for the opportunity in January 2025 after plundering 37 goals in 67 outings for his former employers.
“My father called me and told me ‘City are interested’ and I said ‘I’m ready, lets go, what’s stopping us?’,” he detailed.
“It was a crazy moment for me, just hearing City wanted me at that time. Also, I’ve been putting in the work for so many years.

“It was very surprising in the first moment, ‘okay City want me’, but at the same time I knew something was coming after these consistent performances.
“The year before [with Frankfurt] and the development the year after was incredible and it was unbelievable.”
After five promising performances for City after completing his January transfer to the Club, Marmoush ignited his Blues career with a breathtaking hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Newcastle in mid-February.
After netting in the 19th minute, he had completed his treble 24 minutes later at the Etihad Stadium in a pulsating first-half display.
And collecting the match ball is the highlight of the 26-year-old’s career at the Club so far.

On the game against Newcastle Marmoush added: “It was the best moment up to now.
“I hadn’t scored for City [at the moment], I’d scored against Chelsea and Liverpool but they were two ruled out goals and then I scored my first against Newcastle.
“The moment for the first one was crazy, I had arrived now. Then minutes after I get a second chance – another goal.
“And then it all happened so fast. You don’t get a moment to realise what’s happening and then suddenly I score my first hat-trick in my football career – at Manchester City, in the Premier League that I’ve always dreamt of being in.
“It was a crazy, crazy moment. I’m so grateful to have scored the hat-trick and my teammates, it was all credit to them.
“If you see the goals, they were all collective and team efforts and it’s amazing to be here.
“It’s a dream, you can’t describe it. You dream of these moments, but when they really happen it’s crazy.
“I want to keep going and I want to do it again and again and just keep going.”
