Artist Paul Curtis is at it again as he prepares to get to work on a brilliant mural remembering the lives of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva.
The two brothers were killed in a car crash in Spain last week in news which has devastated the entire footballing world.
Local artist Curtis, who has produced over 250 pieces of artwork around Anfield and the wider city – including murals of Bill Shankly and Kenny Dalglish – will allow the public to decide from two designs which one he goes ahead with.
A target of £2,000 was set but donations have now exceeded £23,000 in what is a truly remarkable figure.
The money raised will be used to cover the costs of the mural, including the hire of cherry picker and the costs of materials. Once those costs are covered, the Crowdfunder page states the extra money raised ‘will go to a charity (we are trying to find out what Diogo’s chosen charities are at the moment)’.
Our No.20 and his brother deserve to be remembered forever and a quality mural is a brilliant idea for supporters and family of the Portuguese to visit.
We still can’t quite believe what has happened but have pride in the generosity of those who have donated to get this project underway.
