The situation at FC Bayern’s goalkeeping position is easing noticeably. Vincent Kompany spoke about Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig ahead of the Bundesliga match in Freiburg. Both keepers are making progress and give cause for hope.

After a difficult few days, the personnel situation at the record champions appears to be stabilizing in time for the CL clash against Real Madrid. The focus is also on the goalkeeping duo, who have been struggling recently.

Vincent Kompany gave a positive update on several returning players at the press conference ahead of the Freiburg game. „Harry is out, Jackson is suspended. Apart from that, things are looking good,“ explained the Bayern coach, adding with regard to the recently absent players: „Jamal is back, Phonzy too. They had a full week of training.“

There are also signs of a clear improvement in the goalkeeping position: „Manu is back, Pavlo is back. We’ll see who can start – but the squad is where it needs to be,“ continued the Belgian.

Kompany was particularly clear about Manuel Neuer. The veteran, who had been missing from time to time after tearing several muscle fibres, is apparently on the verge of making his comeback. „Manu is 100 per cent fit. And what he has shown in training this week is at his best level,“ emphasised the 39-year-old.

This confirms the development of the past few days, in which Neuer has already been working intensively on the training pitch again and has been feeling his way back step by step.

There are also positive signs for Jonas Urbig. The 22-year-old had recently had to take a break due to a capsule injury in his knee and even left the national team prematurely. He has now returned to training, at least partially, and worked individually on his comeback.

Kompany was also optimistic here: „And Jonas has been back with us since yesterday, which is also very positive for us.“ The goalkeeper is therefore closer to the team again after only being able to train to a limited extent recently. With a view to the decisive phase of the season, the coach made the route clear: „We are going into the last two months with full motivation.“
