Brighton have confirmed that Michelle Agyemang has returned to parent club Arsenal to continue her recovery from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The forward renewed her loan at the south-coast club this summer after spending the 2024/25 season on loan at the club as well.

After starring for Brighton and excelling in England’s European Championship win last summer, she suffered an ACL injury against Australia in October.

The injury did not stop Agyemang from winning the BBC Young Sport Personality of the Year award for her stunning Euros campaign, though. The highlight of her competition was when she saved England from going out in the quarter-final and semi-final.

Arsenal confirmed that the forward would be out for the remainder of the season in October and now she returns to the north London club to continue her recovery.

Brighton boss Dario Vidosic said, “It was a real privilege to welcome Michelle back in the summer and work with her for another season. Naturally, we’re disappointed that her second loan spell with the club has come to an end, but her rehab and mental well-being must remain the priority.

“For someone so young, her talent on the pitch and her strength of character off it are truly remarkable. She has been a leader within our squad, and we’re confident she’ll be back on the pitch very soon.

“Michelle has the full support of everyone at Brighton during her recovery, and she will always have a place here at the club.”

Brighton’s managing director added, “We were delighted to welcome Michelle back to the club in the summer. She is an incredible young talent on the pitch and her character off the grass was a big asset to our dressing room.

“We’re sad to see her go prematurely, but her physical health and welfare must take precedence.

“We’ll continue to keep in contact with Arsenal and support Michelle and her family during her recovery. Everyone at Brighton is behind her during this journey.”
