At the start of the campaign, Joan Martinez was destined to become a rising star at Real Madrid, with many almost taking his breakthrough for granted.

However, in a massive setback, the player picked up an ACL injury which ruled him out on the sidelines for a long period.

But instead of getting bogged down by the injury, Martinez took it upon himself to try and return to the pitch as quickly as possible. He was even rewarded with a brand new contract.

Joan Martinez slowly returning to full fitness

After working hard on his recovery for months, it appears the efforts have finally paid off for Joan Martinez.

That is because the youngster is slowly returning to full fitness and is getting closer to playing football again, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Although Martinez won’t be available at the disposal of Carlo Ancelotti anytime soon, the player has made significant efforts to get back to peak physical shape.

The young defender has notably increased muscle mass in the gym, as he has shown in his social media posts.

When will Martinez return to action?

Amid all the improvements in Joan Martinez’s recovery, the question arises: When will the defender return to action?

The report suggests Martinez is confident of returning to the pitch by the end of the season. In fact, he wants to play for Real Madrid first-team before the season ends.

Real Madrid, though, are unlikely to take any impulsive action and will remain cautious and patient with the youngster’s road to full fitness.

This is because the club’s medical team has encountered multiple such injuries in recent years. Therefore, the team is keen on avoiding a scenario where the youngster aggravates his injury in a bid to return to action early.
