A full SkyFi Castalia became the stage for a long, high energy matchday as CD Castellón’s fans gathered from breakfast through lunch, then lived every moment before a happy ending.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Calle Huesca roared for the team bus, balloons, confetti, smoke and scarves filling the air. Many entered early at the club’s request to back the warm up despite rain, and the Fondo 1922 unveiled a tifo.

Children enjoyed face painting run by the Fedpecas supporters’ group. Pasión Albinegra staged a peñas get together. Bars and terraces around Castalia buzzed with a lively pre match atmosphere.

The stands were in full voice as the teams emerged to Pam, pam orellut, and David Cubillas took the honorary kick off. The charismatic local striker, a former captain and fans’ favourite, is retiring after his spell at Tarazona. Former coach Dick Schreuder attended, and other recent players were due to be there.

Mayor Begoña Carrasco watched from the directors’ box with city and provincial representatives including Maica Hurtado, Andrés Martínez and Iván Sánchez. Club president and custodian Bob Voulgaris led the hierarchy alongside general director Alberto González and head of recruitment Ramón Soria. It was the occasion of the year.

When the team needed it, the crowd stayed with them. The final whistle sparked a video, a lap of honour and a full scale celebration. With this bond between side and support, the play-off now promises to be compelling.
