Inter have set their sights on Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt as a potential signing for the midfield, initiating an exploratory inquiry to understand the feasibility of a summer move.
According to L’Interista, the Nerazzurri are looking to capitalize on the German international’s contractual situation, with his current deal at Signal Iduna Park set to expire in June 2026. This timeframe creates a window of opportunity for Inter to negotiate a lower transfer fee, as Dortmund risk losing the 29-year-old for free in some months.
However, a significant hurdle has already emerged during the initial phase of the deal. The primary difficulty in negotiations is the player’s salary expectations. Brandt is requesting a wage in the region of €7m per season. This figure currently sits outside of Inter’s sustainable wage structure, drawing parallels to the club’s pursuit of Leon Goretzka, where financial demands have also complicated progress.
While the sporting profile of Brandt is highly admired by the management, the deal remains stalled by the economic gap between the player’s demands and what the Italian champions can realistically afford. They would keep looking at the situation further and sense any further opportunities.
