Inter Miami ended a landmark 2025 by lifting its first MLS Cup presented by Audi, and, according to Inter Miami, has listed the year’s standout on-pitch moments spanning Club World Cup firsts, playoff highlights and academy breakthroughs.
On 5 March, 18-year-old Santi Morales made his MLS debut against Houston Dynamo. At the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Messi’s 19 June winner sealed a 2-1 comeback against Porto FC, a first for a Concacaf side against European opposition internationally and for a United States team in the tournament. Four days later, Luis Suárez’s solo strike in a 2-2 draw with SE Palmeiras secured a Round of 16 berth, making Inter Miami the first MLS side to reach the knockouts.
Messi fed Jordi Alba against New York Red Bulls on 19 July, a goal later nominated for Play of the Year at the 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony.
In the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs, Messi’s diving header set a 3-1 Game one win over Nashville SC on 24 October. Tadeo Allende then completed his brace with a chip in the 4-0 home victory in Game three on 8 November. On 29 November Messi’s pass to Silvetti took him to 405 career assists, the most in history, and Alba backheeled for Telasco Segovia against NYCFC in the Eastern Conference Final.
On 6 December Messi provided the assist for the club’s final goal of the season in the MLS Cup presented by Audi against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
