Inter Milan and AC Milan are still confident about the new San Siro project despite some legal issues in the city of Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, reporting on the 100th anniversary of the breaking-ground on the iconic stadium.

Inter Milan and AC Milan have been trying to build a new stadium for years now.

And for the last year or so, the clubs’ efforts have focused on building a new San Siro stadium adjacent to the existing one.

The clubs will not tear down the existing San Siro. However, they hope to build adjacent to it, rather than building in a new area.

In the last few days, an emerging urban planning scandal in Milan has raised fresh doubts about the San Siro project.

A series of arrests in the investigation are just one more complication. There has been no shortage of those for Inter and Milan in their quest to construct a new stadium.

However, reports the Gazzetta dello Sport, the clubs remain confident that they will be able to buy the land and finally get the long-sought-after green light to begin construction this year.

And it comes, the newspaper highlight, one hundred years after the breaking of ground on the original San Siro.
