Mario Gila has become one of Maurizio Sarri’s few defensive certainties heading into Sunday’s showdown between Lazio and Inter.
The Spaniard’s commanding displays have not gone unnoticed and, as Il Tempo reports, via FCInter1908, he has already caught the eye of the Nerazzurri in recent months.
According to the newspaper, Inter made enquiries for Gila during the most recent transfer windows.
However, Lazio president Claudio Lotito immediately rejected any approaches.
The Spaniard, who has stepped up amid the club’s injury crisis, is viewed as a valuable long-term asset.

Complicating any potential deal is the fact that half of Gila’s registration remains owned by Real Madrid, the club where he came through the youth ranks.
Lazio are therefore doubly reluctant to sell, knowing that any move would see them share the proceeds with the Spanish giants.
Gila currently earns just over €1 million per season.
Meanwhile, his form has sparked speculation over a renewal but reports claim Lazio are in no rush to open talks.
Furthermore, the player is not pushing to extend.
