Inter Milan can breathe a sigh of relief regarding the fitness of Marcus Thuram despite his unavailability against AC Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Frenchman should make a fairly swift return,
Medical tests yesterday confirmed that Thuram has suffered a thigh injury.
The issue for the 27-year-old is a “slight elongation” of the adductor muscles in his left thigh.
That means that Thuram will miss the Supercoppa Italiana final against AC Milan tomorrow. At the absolute most he could be on the bench.
Therefore, there’s some disappointment that the Frenchman could not shake off his issue in a couple days and be ready for the final.
On the other hand, it certainly could have been a lot worse for Thuram.
Tests more or less confirmed that the Frenchman’s injury is a very minor one.
Therefore, Thuram should even be able to return for Inter’s next match after tomorrow. That will be against Venezia in Serie A next weekend.
And Inter will feel that they need the Frenchman back.
The Nerazzurri have an absolutely packed January fixture list. They can hardly afford to do without a key player like Thuram for very long.
