Simone Inzaghi has given the Inter Milan squad the day off following the health scare to Edoardo Bove in yesterday’s match against Fiorentina.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that only Carlos Augusto and Francesco Acerbi are at the club’s training ground today.
Yesterday, Inter’s Serie A match away to Fiorentina came to an unexpected and abrupt halt.
A medical emergency for Viola midfielder Edoardo Bove caused emotional scenes on the pitch.
Bove collapsed away from the action. The 22-year-old was unconscious for several minutes, only regaining consciousness in hospital later.
After a few minutes, the players from both teams went to the dressing rooms.
Yesterday’s events took their toll on both Fiorentina and Inter players. Coaching and refereeing staff also looked distraught throughout the incident.
There were quite a few players visibly in tears. There were also players who angrily asked for an ambulance to be driven onto the pitch.
Clearly, the medical emergency to Bove has left Inter’s squad needing some time to process their experience and relax.
And Inzaghi has therefore decided to give his players the day off from training.
Only defender Francesco Acerbi and wingback Carlos Augusto are at the Nerazzurri training centre today. They are recovering from muscle injuries and were not at the Franchi yesterday.
