Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is not yet sure whether captain Lautaro Martinez will be ready to face RB Leipzig on Tuesday.

The Nerazzurri coach updated on the Argentine’s availability in a press conference after today’s Serie A clash with Hellas Verona, as reported by FCInterNews. He also admitted that he doesn’t yet know what the condition of Francesco Acerbi is.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi was not available for today’s Serie A clash with Verona.

The reason for this was not an injury, but rather a bit of illness.

Martinez was suffering a fever and some flu-like symptoms which prevented him from being able to play this afternoon.

That did not stop Inter from getting a statement win. They came away with three points and an emphatic 5-0 victory, with Martinez’s replacement Joaquin Correa the hero.

But Inter certainly will not want to be without their captain for much longer.

The Nerazzurri’s next match is just a few days away. They face RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Inter Coach Inzaghi: “We’ll See Whether Lautaro Martinez Fit Vs RB Leipzig”

As far as whether Martinez could be back for Tuesday’s match, Inter coach Inzaghi said that “We’ll have to see how the virus runs its course.”

“Yesterday he wasn’t feeling well, but he’s very generous and he wanted to be available anyway.”

“Even though he knew he wouldn’t start,” the Inter coach noted.

“Then last night he started to have chills, and this morning he had a fever.”

“We’ll have to evaluate,” Inzaghi said as far as Martinez’s availability going forward.

“I also had the same virus. In the three days I had it I only missed one training session.”

“Let’s hope it’s the same for him,” Inzaghi said of Martinez. “But not all viruses are the same.”

Meanwhile, Inzaghi also updated on the condition of defender Francesco Acerbi. Acerbi came off with an injury during the first half of today’s match.

“I still don’t know exactly,” Inzaghi said of a prospective injury for Acerbi.

“He said that he felt a small problem with his thigh flexor, so I immediately called on de Vrij to make a substitution.”

“Let’s hope it’s nothing serious,” Inzaghi said of Acerbi’s injury.

“He needs to be calm. He hasn’t been used to these injuries, but he’ll get past it like he did last time.”

“Let’s hope that he does so more quickly than last time.”

“Against Napoli he was back and at his best. Let’s hope that it’s nothing serious and he’s bacjk soon.”
