With each passing day, rumours about the future of Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni and a potential move to FC Barcelona are gaining weight.
The 27-year-old Italian international is already understood to have agreed personal terms with the Catalans and is excited to make the switch in the summer.
Formal negotiations between the two clubs, though, are yet to kickstart, and they will be anything but easy, as Inter seemingly do not wish to let go of their defensive mainstay.
At least that is how it seemed from the recent comments made by Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio, who suggested that they intend to keep Bastoni at the club.
“Bastoni is under contract with Inter, and at the moment, there is nothing to suggest he is leaving the club,” Ausilio said, as quoted by Eurosport.

“Barcelona? I don’t know what they’re saying in Spain, but we’re happy with what Bastoni has given Inter and we’re sure he’ll give us a lot more,” he added, regarding the rumours.
Concluding, Ausilio made a pointed remark towards the Blaugrana, as he said: “If anyone is interested in Bastoni, they know the contact details, so they should get in touch – they shouldn’t just talk.”
Bastoni has come under fire in Italy in recent weeks. The defender was heavily criticised by fans after simulating an incident that led to the dismissal of Juventus star Pierre Kalulu in a Serie A clash.
Public reaction has worsened following a red card in the World Cup qualifying play-off against Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Italy missing out on a spot in the summer’s extravaganza.
However, Ausilio’s comments seem to suggest that Inter are very happy with Bastoni and are not considering his sale for now.
