Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram has revealed why he decided to use the celebration of teammate Joaquin Correa against Hellas Verona.
The Frenchman spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the 5-0 Serie A win. He praised his teammate and said that he used the celebration because he was happy for him.
Inter got a 5-0 win over Hellas Verona this evening to return to Serie A from the international break in emphatic style and go top of the league table for the next few hours at least.
It was a surprising match in many respects.
Not least for the fact that Joaquin Correa got his fist start of the season for the Nerazzurri.
The Argentine had been expected by many to leave Inter during the summer transfer window. However, he stuck around. And he has featured a few times from the bench this season.
However, this afternoon, it was more than just a cameo from Correa.
And the 30-year-old made the most of his chance in the Inter starting eleven. Correa scored Inter’s opener and also made two assists.
The Argentine former Lazio forward set up his strike partner Marcus Thuram, and then defender Yann Bisseck.
After his own goal, Thuram used the same celebration that Correa had done.
And after the match, the 27-year-old said that “I used the celebration because I like him a lot.”
“Tucu is a great player and we see him every day in training,” Thuram said of his Nerazzurri teammate.
“We’re all happy that he had a match like this.”
Meanwhile, Thuram gave his thoughts on his goalscoring form so far this season.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach striker is currently Inter’s top scorer. His nine goals have come in four matches, with braces against Genoa, Atalanta, and Verona and a hattrick against Torino.
“Sometimes I ended up scoring two, sometimes three,” Thuram said. “And then sometimes I don’t score.”
“But as I always say, the important thing is that Inter win,” the France international added.
