Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck was thrilled with the opportunity to play as a starter against Manchester City in a top Champions League showdown.
The Nerazzurri started their European campaign at the Etihad Stadium with arguably their toughest test in the group stage.
Nevertheless, Simone Inzaghi’s men held firm at the back and almost managed to stun the Cityzens on the counterattacks. In the end, the two teams settled for a goalless draw.
For his part, Bisseck was one of the few surprises in the coach’s selections. Inzaghi gave the German the nod on the right side of the back three at Benjamin Pavard’s expense.
Hence, the 23-year-old expressed his delight after earning his manager’s trust while insisting his team earned a positive result.
“It’s not easy against a team like City,” said the young defender in his post-match interview with Inter TV via FcInterNews.
“I think we did what we could. It was a fair result in the end, even if we could have won.
“These are the games I want to play. I’m very happy that the coach has given me the confidence to play tonight.”
Bisseck feels these are the matches that make the whole team evolve. He’s counting on another similar display in Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina clash against AC Milan.
“If we play against such strong teams, we can always grow. We played a great game and we hope to replicate it against Milan.
“It is not easy to recover energy in this Champions League format with eight games. It won’t be a simple task but we have to play and we will do the best we can.”
The Germany U21 starlet joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2023. He has been gradually earning himself more playing time at Inzaghi’s court.
