Yann Bisseck and Benjamin Pavard have been going head-to-head for a starting berth at Inter Milan since the start of last season.

During the press conference ahead of Inter’s UEFA Champions League match against Young Boys, as reported by FCInterNews, Bisseck opened up on a healthy competition between the two highly-rated defenders.

Bisseck and Pavard both joined Inter in the summer of 2023.

However, the latter arrived with the pedigree of one of Europe’s finest center-backs.

After winning the World Cup with France and adding to his trophy cabinet at Bayern Munich, Pavard moved to Serie A last year.

Meanwhile, Bisseck arrived at Giuseppe Meazza from Aarhus as an up-and-coming talent from Danish outfit Aarhus.

Importantly for Inter, they played a significant role in helping the Nerazzurri secure their 20th Scudetto during their first year at the club last term.

But Bisseck was the Frenchman’s understudy, a position he hopes to move on from in the foreseeable future.

Yann Bisseck Delivers Update on His Ambition to Take Benjamin Pavard Place at Inter Milan

Bisseck came off the bench in Sunday’s away league win against Roma.

It was a critical success for Inter, keeping them within touching distance of early leaders Napoli.

The 23-year-old grasps the importance of taking three points in Rome.

“The victory in Rome is important, but it’s in the past. We shouldn’t think about Juve right now; after playing tomorrow, we can talk about Juve.”

Asked what his dream is, Bisseck said: “My dream is to be able to keep winning with Inter.”

He also praised Yann Sommer’s pivotal presence in goal.

“He’s an excellent goalkeeper who gives me confidence. I think playing with him would be a certainty.”

Bisseck has grown a lot since arriving from Denmark last summer.

“I came from Denmark to one of the best clubs in the world; it’s a huge step, but I’ve learned a lot, especially in the defensive phase.

“I think my level is rising, and the role I play doesn’t matter.”

However, he’s been Pavard’s deputy. That’s a role that doesn’t bother him.

Bisseck conceded it’s not easy to leapfrog such a prominent figure in the pecking order.

“It’s not easy in front of a player of that level. He’s a great player from whom I can learn, and he has more experience than me.

“For me, it’s all about giving the coach confidence at every level. Then it’s the coach who decides; for now, I expect to play a bit more.”

Last but not least, Bisseck addressed his relationship with Tomas Palacios.

“I know it’s not easy for him; I advised him to pay close attention to what his teammates do in training.

“Tomas is smart, and I think sooner or later he’ll have his space.”
