Inter Milan have already made their offer to try and sign Napoli and Juventus linked striker Jonathan David this summer.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908.
Lille and Canada striker Jonathan David will be perhaps the biggest free transfer opportunity of the summer.
The 25-year-old has long made clear that he will leave Lille this summer. His contract with the Ligue 1 club expires at the end of next month.
And a queue of clubs has formed to try and sign David.
However, while signing Jonathan David would not require a transfer fee, it certainly wouldn’t be without its costs.
David is asking for significant wages. Moreover, completing a deal would also involve paying high agent commissions.

One club that has been persistently linked with Jonathan David for months is Inter Milan.
This is perhaps little surprise considering the Nerazzurri’s penchant for free transfer signings.
Inter President Beppe Marotta has gained a reputation as European football’s most prolific operator in the free transfer market.
To some extent, that has changed under the ownership of Oaktree Capital.
The North American fund have signalled a change in policy. Rather than relying on bargain signings and veterans, they want to invest in younger players.
That does not, however, mean that Oaktree will not approve of free transfer deals.
For a player like Jonathan David – still just 25 years of age – Oaktree would be fine with making a move. Even if it involved making the Canadian one of Inter’s higher earners.
However, reports the Gazzetta, Oaktree have also made clear that they do not want to spend excessively on agent commissions and other peripheral costs on signings.
Therefore, a deal for David could come down to factors such as that.
In any event, the Gazzetta report, Inter have already put their offer to David on the table.
And in the meantime, other Serie A clubs have also showed a big interest. Napoli and Juventus above all.
And in the meantime, Arsenal and Bayern Munich have also contacted David’s representatives.
Now, Inter are waiting patiently for the response for David.
The Nerazzurri are being patient. They don’t expect a response immediately, and are not going to hastily pull their offer off the table.
However, reports the Gazzetta, the offer is what it is. Inter will not raise it or try to sweeten the deal from here.
