Former Inter Milan President Ernesto Pellegrini has passed away at the age of 84.
The prominent Italian businessman was at the helm of the Nerazzurri for eleven years, between 1984 and 1995.
Then, in 1984 Pellegrini took over the club entirely from Ivanoe Fraizzoli.
Ernesto Pellegrini would end up being Inter Milan President for a period of over a decade.
During Pellegrini’s ten years at the helm, Inter would make a number of high profile signings. He was the President who brought Germans Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Lothar Matthaus, Andreas Brehme, and Juergen Klinsmann to the San Siro.

The height of Pellegrini’s time as Inter President was undoubtedly the 1988-89 season.
That campaign saw the Nerazzurri win the Serie A title with a then-record points total under Giovanni Trapattoni.
That season remains the most points that any team has taken in a single Serie A season prior to the three-points-for-a-win era.
Inter also won the UEFA Cup twice during Pellegrini’s presidency.
The Nerazzurri won that continental competition during the 1990-91 and 1993-94 seasons.
In 1995, Pellegrini would sell Inter Milan to Massimo Moratti, the son of another former Nerazzurri President Angelo Moratti.
Moratti would go on to have his own ups and downs at Inter, culminating in the 2009-10 Treble.
