Inter Milan legend Beppe Bergomi says the Nerazzurri look “more aggressive” under Cristian Chivu as the new coach prepares for his first derby since replacing Simone Inzaghi.

Speaking to Sky Sport, via FCInterNews, the former captain highlighted how Chivu has raised the defensive line and pushed for quicker recoveries, noting: “The only real change is that he’s lifted the backline and wants to win the ball higher.”

Bergomi began by recalling the emotion he still attaches to the fixture.

“I played 44 derbies, but the first one is the one I remember most,” he said, pointing to his debut goal in a 2–2 Coppa Italia draw in 198.

He also remembered the sense of belonging built through the youth sector.

Indeed, adding: “Winning or losing a derby changed your whole week.”

Turning to Sunday, Bergomi warned that Chivu’s approach comes with risks against Milan’s pace.

“Every team has defects, but Milan are lethal in transition with Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic,” he said. Still, he believes Inter will not abandon their principles: “Chivu will make small adjustments, but the team’s identity is clear.”

“Acerbi has experience and defensive reading, Bisseck has more speed. Chivu can’t really go wrong,” he said.

Indeed, noting how Acerbi “opened the derby of the second star” with his goal two years ago.
