Inter Milan have resumed talks for the potential signing of Genoa defender Koni De Winter, according to Sky Sport Italia.
While their focus is on Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, Inter are also keen to secure defensive reinforcements.
The Nerazzurri have lined up De Winter as a potential centre-back target due to the uncertain futures of Yann Aurel Bisseck and Benjamin Pavard.
Bisseck is at the top of Crystal Palace’s wishlist, and they have submitted an offer worth more than €30 million to the Italian giants.
However, the German defender has no interest in leaving the San Siro and wants to continue with Inter.
Stefan De Vrij and Francesco Acerbi are nearing their twilight, so there are doubts about whether they can maintain the same intensity and physical levels this season.
Investing in a young central defender will provide manager Cristian Chivu with multiple options in the backline and help Inter build a solid foundation for the future.
The 23-year-old’s impressive performances led to his debut with the Belgium national team last year. He has earned four caps with the Red Devils.
The former Juventus youth product has drawn interest from Galatasaray, West Ham United and Bournemouth.
He reportedly prefers a move to Inter, which will be a decisive factor in the negotiations. Genoa are demanding around €25-30 million for De Winter.
Inter have been keeping tabs on Parma defender Giovanni Leoni, but face fierce competition from Liverpool for his signing.
