Inter Milan Prepare To Offer Italy Defender New Contract Amid Barcelona Speculation | OneFootball

Inter Milan are preparing to open contract extension talks with Alessandro Bastoni, with discussions expected to begin between April and May amid links to Barcelona.

Bastoni’s current deal runs until 2028, but Inter are keen to push that further, ideally to 2030, and the feeling is very much mutual.

The Italy international has never hidden his desire to remain at the club and has already demonstrated that loyalty in the past.

The defender turned down serious interest from Tottenham Hotspur a couple of years ago.

Liverpool and Manchester United have also made enquiries over the years without ever progressing beyond initial soundings.

Although the Catalan club’s well-documented financial difficulties mean they are currently in no position to test Inter’s resolve.

And that resolve is considerable.

The club would not entertain offers even in the region of €70-80 million, viewing Bastoni as an untouchable cornerstone of their squad alongside fellow vice-captains Barella and Dimarco.

The defender himself has put any recent off-field turbulence behind him and remains fully focused on the Nerazzurri cause, with a new long-term contract now firmly on the horizon.
