Inter Milan plan to build around Cristian Chivu and Nicolo Barella next season, but Alessandro Bastoni’s future is less clear-cut as Barcelona prepare to push harder for the Italy defender in the coming months.
According to reports from FCInterNews, Chivu will continue as head coach and the squad will be shaped around him.
Barella is staying.
The Italy midfielder has not entertained offers, even those worth triple his current salary, and both player and club are fully committed to their partnership through to 2029.
It is as straightforward as it gets.

Bastoni’s situation is more nuanced.
He wants to stay, and contract talks are ongoing with his deal expiring in 2028.
However, Barcelona’s interest is expected to intensify as the summer approaches.
And, indeed, that pressure could complicate negotiations.
An extension is not guaranteed.
Elsewhere, Inter will listen to offers for Marcus Thuram.
He arrived on a free transfer.
Therefore, any sale would represent pure profit, an attractive prospect for a club mindful of its financial position.
Calhanoglu’s future also hinges on external interest.
Therefore, if Galatasaray make a serious offer, Inter will consider it.
The most significant incoming move is already settled.
Aleksandar Stankovic will return to the club this summer, effectively making him Inter’s first signing of the Chivu era, a statement of intent about the direction the Nerazzurri are heading.
