Inter Milan are reportedly working on finding an agreement with Spezia over the transfer of young defender Nicolo Bertola.
The two clubs have good relations as portrayed by Francesco Pio Esposito’s successive loan moves.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri are seemingly looking to bank on this rapport to seal a deal for Bertola.
The 21-year-old is a Spezia youth product who climbed his way up the club’s ranks to become a stalwart with the first team.
The young defender has made 13 appearances as a starter in Serie B, also showing his knack for scoring goals by finding the back of the net on three occasions.
Bertola’s exploits have attracted several suitors in Serie A. However, Inter are trying to anticipate the competition by securing an agreement with the Ligurian club.
According to Il Secolo XIX via FcInterNews, the Italian champions have accepted an invitation from Spezia to discuss a potential deal for the Italy U21 starlet.
The summit reportedly included Spezia sporting director Stefano Melissano and Inter director Dario Baccin. The latter acts as the right-hand man of Nerazzurri sporting director Piero Ausilio.
Baccin confirmed his club’s interest in the rising defender, while Spezia insists they wouldn’t mind a transfer.
Nevertheless, the Aquilotti will be hoping to avoid losing Bertola’s services for free at the end of the season. The player’s contract is only valid until June.
Therefore, Spezia would be happy to take players in exchange. The two clubs thus examined the possible profiles who could be added to the package.
The list includes Alessandro Fontanarosa, Luca Di Maggio, Zinho Vanheusden, Franco Carboni and Issiaka Kamate.
The source reveals that the two clubs will catch up again in late December just before the start of the January transfer window.
