Ange-Yoan Bonny has quickly gone from promising newcomer to revelation at Inter Milan, scoring key goals and earning the trust of Cristian Chivu as a valuable rotation option for Lautaro Martinez.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of his first Derby della Madonnina, the 22-year-old reflected on his first few months in Milan and what it means to wear the Nerazzurri shirt.
“I’ve learned that it takes time to realise where you are and how big this club is,” Bonny said. “At Inter the level keeps rising, even in training – it’s demanding, but I feel great and I’m learning every day.”
Bonny signed for Inter in the summer, joining Cristian Chivu in making the move from Parma to Lombardy.
However, the French striker admitted he still has plenty to refine.
“I need to improve my play with my back to goal and my heading. Even what you already do well can always be done better.”
He revealed that Chivu has been a guiding figure both at Parma and in Milan, while Mkhitaryan and several Italian teammates help him push harder every day.

Bonny reserved special praise for his coach.
“Chivu is the same genuine person he was at Parma. He always tells me to be available for others and to play first for the team.”
He also credited Alessandro Bastoni, Yann Bisseck, and Francesco Acerbi for helping him settle in:
Reflecting on his first goal at San Siro, Bonny said:
“When you score there, after the roar you can’t hear anything – it’s all emotion.”

The young forward admitted he studies his strike partners closely.
“I’d like to have Lautaro’s hunger for goals – being the fourth all-time scorer for Inter at his age is incredible. Marcus can do everything: goals, dribbles, assists. We’re different but can play together. And Pio Esposito? Few protect the ball like him.”
With the Milan derby just days away, Bonny is ready for the biggest stage yet.
“It’s like Barça-Real for atmosphere and magnitude. It’s not about hate, but for 90 minutes it’s a battle. Hopefully, at the end, everything will be coloured black and blue.”
Still, he knows it won’t decide the title just yet.
“It’s November, anything can happen. But it’s already important – winning would give us a real boost over Milan, Napoli, Roma and everyone chasing us.”
Inter currently sit top of Serie A, with 24 points from their opening eleven games.
This means the Nerazzurri are level on points with Roma and two points clear of Milan and Napoli.
Therefore, the Milan derby is a vital game, with three valuable points on the line for both teams.
