Legendary former Inter Milan midfielder Esteban Cambiasso feels that Federico Dimarco is a top player with “only one flaw” in his game.

The Argentine praised the 26-year-old Nerazzurri wingback while speaking on Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908.

It’s now been more than three years since Dimarco returned to Inter from his most recent loan spell away at Hellas Verona.

And each season since then has been one of growth for the Italian international.

In the 2021-22 season, Dimarco’s first under Simone Inzaghi, his quality was evidence. Particularly in terms of his passing and left-footed deliveries into the box.

Dimarco established a place for himself as deputy for Ivan Perisic on Inter’s left flank. His versatility also came in handy as he was able to back up Alessandro Bastoni in defense.

But there were some questions about Dimarco’s defensive ability and physicality.

And it was not yet clear that the positive aspects of the Italian’s game would fully make up for those.

Esteban Cambiasso: “Federico Dimarco A Top Player, Only One Flaw In His Game”

Now, however, Dimarco is just about the first name on the teamsheet for Inter.

That has been the case for a couple of seasons now.

There is a sense that the 26-year-old had really cemented his place in the starting eleven during the Nerazzurri’s run to the Champions League final.

And Dimarco isn’t just a key player for Italy. He has also become a key member of the starting eleven for the Italy national side under Luciano Spalletti.

Legendary former Inter and Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Cambiasso gave his thoughts on Dimarco.

“Now he only has one flaw,” the 2010 Treble winner said. “And that’s his ability to keep himself measured throughout the entire match.”

“That’s because his desire to give everything prevents him from being able to regulate himself during a match,” Cambiasso said.

“At the 65-70th minute mark in matches at the top level, he starts to suffer.”

“But that’s also probably calculated,” Cambiasso noted. “With the rule change and knowing that there are five substitutions available.”
