Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti is confident the Nerazzurri are heading in the right direction under new boss Cristian Chivu.
Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the former club captain hailed Inter’s chances of winning the Serie A title this season.
The club’s decision to appoint Cristian Chivu as Simone Inzaghi’s successor last summer raised a few eyebrows.
Despite overseeing just 13 top-flight games in charge of Parma, Chivu received the call from his former side.
However, the 45-year-old has defied his lack of experience, guiding Inter to the top of the Serie A table at the halfway point of the season.
Indeed, the 20-time Italian champions sit comfortably five points clear of second-placed AC Milan.
Furthermore, Chivu’s men have won four consecutive league games, including a 2-0 triumph at Cremonese last weekend.
Unfortunately, a bizarre incident in Cremona, which put Emil Audero in jeopardy, will see Inter play their next three road matches without away fans.

Zanetti believes Chivu has laid the groundwork for Inter’s second Scudetto in three years.
Indeed, he praised the Romanian coach’s impact. However, the Argentine warned the team against complacency.
“We hope so, because I think we’re doing very well,” Zanetti said.
“There’s still a long way to go until the end, but I believe Cristian and all the lads are doing an outstanding job.”
Meanwhile, Zanetti also delivered his verdict on the Cremona incident, condemning violent scenes at the stadium.
“It saddens me greatly, and it saddens everyone who wants a different kind of sport,” he added.
“Unfortunately, these things have happened, but we have to move on and put what happened behind us.”
The Sports Judge has imposed a three-game travel ban on Inter Milan fans, applicable to matches against Sassuolo, Fiorentina, and Lecce.
