In-form Inter looking to complete the job against injury-hit Bayern Munich

Inter Milan are in a strong position to reach the Champions League semi-final when they host Bayern Munich tonight.

Goals from Lautaro Martinez and Davide Frattesi - either side of a Thomas Muller strike - means Inter are defending a 2-1 lead going into the quarter-final second leg at the San Siro as they look to keep their treble hopes alive.

Simone Inzaghi’s side warmed up for the second leg with a 3-1 win over Cagliari at the weekend, extending their unbeaten run in Serie A to seven games. Though the Nerazzuri can expect a much tougher test with a place in the Champions League semi-final at stake.

Bayern know nothing but a victory in Italy will do and can perhaps take confidence from winning their last two away games in Europe by scorelines that would be enough to progress or, at worst, force extra-time.

The winners of the tie will face Barcelona in the semi-final.

Inzaghi's rotation policy worked a treat at the weekend as the likes of Marcus Thuram, Alessandro Bastoni and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were rested ahead of the second leg.

The trio are expected to return to the starting line-up, but Piotr Zielinski and Denzel Dumfries remain sidelined through injury.

Manuel Neuer is set to miss out for Bayern despite targeting this game for his comeback from injury. This means Jonas Urbig is likely to deputise in between the posts once again.

Dayot Upamecano, Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies are also sidelined but Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Leroy Sane have all made the trip to Italy along with Muller and Kingsley Coman.
