Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto addressed the press ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Kairat Almaty.
During a pre-match conference via FCInterNews, he also reflected on his latest omission from Brazil’s squad.
Carlos Augusto has gained a more prominent role at San Siro this season.
Indeed, Cristian Chivu has deployed the former Monza star in several positions.
In addition to his favorite wingback role, the 26-year-old has also deputized for Alessandro Bastoni as a center-back.
Therefore, he has already accumulated 11 appearances in all competitions, including nine in Serie A.
Furthermore, he started in Inter’s 4-0 rout of Royale Union SG in the previous Champions League round.
With Inter heavily fancied to beat Kairat tomorrow, Augusto looks destined for another European start.
However, Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has omitted the Inter wingback from his squad for the upcoming international break.
Despite returning to the national team last month, Augusto has fallen out of favor again.

“We know that the national team is the objective of everyone in the World Cup year,” Augusto admitted. “I first of all want to help Inter win.
“Then it’s clear that it’s also my objective, I must improve to be ready for Brazil.
“The coach chooses, and I must respect his decision.
“No one is perfect, I have to improve, and I can do it thanks to the staff and the teammates.”
Then, he delivered his verdict on tomorrow’s match.
“We know that in this Champions League it’s more important to win the matches – goal difference also matters,” Augusto added.
“There are no easy games, but we’re playing at our home. They come to do their job.
“We must think of ourselves and take three points, because then four tough games will follow.
“The coach always tells us that we must have the concentration we have in Europe also in the league.
“We know that goal difference is important in the Champions League; we must continue our journey.
“After the end of last season, I believe that the coach and his staff gave us a lot.
“He was a great player and knows how the dressing room is run; this gave us back confidence.
“Now we only think of this season, he gave us the right stimulus.”

“I feel more integrated, also the young players who have arrived,” he admitted. “The coach is always together with the group, does rotations…
“This helps a lot, even those who play less; we work a lot physically.
“When we have our opportunities, we must do our best, trying to make the coach have difficulties [in choosing].
“We have a great group, as always, I believe that we will do great things.
“Regarding the role, I like playing. I am a full‑back, I want to learn from Bastoni and Dimarco, who are great players.”
Meanwhile, Augusto also commented on Inter’s growing defensive woes in Serie A.
“There are moments in the game, it’s clear we always want dominance.
“We must also know how to suffer,” he continued. “Sunday was a difficult game, but last‑minute victories count a lot for morale.
“We’re doing well, but we can improve by trying to win the competitions we’re in.”
Moreover, he reflected on conceding another league goal in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Hellas Verona.
“It was a case, you have to also give credit to the opponents,” Augusto said. “We often work on both phases.
“In matches, there are moments in which we must be more focused, do the defensive phase better.
