San Siro is ready to welcome Inter back home. The Nerazzurri take on Parma at the Meazza on Matchday 35 of Serie A, on Sunday night at 20:45C CEST. Chivu's side are facing a crucial game in their season with a ten-point lead on second-place Napoli, while Milan remain in third place 12 points behind.

Inter dominated the return fixture on January 7th, which concluded the first half of the season. Dimarco and Thuram were the stars of the night at the Tardini, marking the first away win of 2026.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

This will be the 58th meeting between Inter and Parma in Serie A. Inter lead the overall record with 24 wins to Parma’s 16, while 17 matches have ended in a draw. Parma have historically been a tricky opponent for the Nerazzurri: among teams they have faced fewer than 100 times in Serie A, Inter’s win rate against Parma stands at 42% (24 wins in 57 meetings), lower only than against Sampierdarenese (33%: 2 wins in 6 games). However, Inter are unbeaten in their last eight league games against Parma (five wins, three draws), and have scored at least two goals in each of the last seven (15 goals in total, averaging 2.1 per match).

At San Siro, the record across 28 meetings shows ten Inter wins, two Parma wins and 16 draws, making a draw the most common result. In fact, four of the last six clashes in Milano have finished level. Inter have scored in 26 of those 28 home games against Parma, while Parma have scored in each of their last six visits to the Meazza.

MATCH STATS

With the two goals scored away in Turin, Inter have reached 80 goals in this league campaign: fewer only than Barcelona (87) and Bayern Munich (113) across Europe’s top five leagues in 2025/26. The Nerazzurri have scored more after 35 matchdays only on three occasions in their history: 92 in 1949/50, 96 in 1950/51, and 81 in 2023/24. A large share of this tally has been built at San Siro, where Inter boast a home goal difference of +32 this season (47 scored, 15 conceded). It is their best home goal difference after the first 17 home games of a Serie A season in the last 60 years, only surpassed by +35 in 1958/59.

Chivu’s side are enjoying an extremely productive attacking season. They not only have the best attack (80 goals) and best goal difference (+49) in Serie A, but also lead the league for total shots (596), shots on target (208), conversion rate (13.4%) and touches in the opposition box (1,160). They also top the Expected Goals table in Serie A with 64.6. Defensively, Inter have conceded the fewest shots in the league (309) and have kept the most clean sheets (16) across Europe’s top five leagues this season, level with Como, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

THURAM IN FORM

Tikus has bloomed with the arrival of spring, proving decisive in all of his last four league matches. Since the start of April, Thuram has been involved in the most goals across Europe’s top five leagues: seven (five goals, two assists) in just 322 minutes - that's a goal involvement every 46 minutes. The goal against Torino, his 50th for Inter, took him to 12 league goals this season. Thuram could become only the fourth player in Europe’s top five leagues to score at least 13 goals for the same club in each of the last three seasons, after Ante Budimir (Osasuna), Erling Haaland (Manchester City) and Harry Kane (Bayern Munich). The French forward has scored in each of his three Serie A appearances against Parma, and could become only the second Inter player in the three-points-for-a-win era to score in five consecutive league matches, after Christian Vieri who did it four times, most recently in January-February 2003, when he went six in a row.

DIMARCO SETTING RECORDS

Two more left-footed gems have written Federico Dimarco into Serie A history. In the match against Torino, he provided two more assists, taking his season tally to 18 surpassing Alejandro Gómez (16 in 2019/20) and becoming the player with the most assists in a single Serie A season since the stat has been recorded (from 2004/05 onwards). Across Europe’s top five leagues this season, only Michael Olise has matched his 18 assists, while only Bruno Fernandes (19) has provided more.

Dimarco’s season continues to be packed with standout numbers: he leads Serie A in goal contributions (23), chances created (91) and successful open-play crosses (47). Dimarco, who spent the 2018/19 season at Parma, has also scored in his last two league meetings against the Emilians, scoring on both occasions with his right foot.

GLI EX DELLA PARTITA

There are four players in the current Inter squad who have previously played for Parma during their careers. Alongside Dimarco, Darmian, Bastoni and Bonny, all have a Parma past. They are joined by Cristian Chivu, who made his Serie A managerial debut with Parma last season. His first 13 games in charge in Italy came between February and May 2025, recording three wins, seven draws and three defeats, for an average of 1.2 points per game.

Alessandro Bastoni made 24 appearances for Parma in the 2018/19 season, scoring his first Serie A goal on May 5th 2019 against Sampdoria. The 1999-born defender also scored against his former club while playing for Inter, scoring at the Tardini on June 28th 2020. Matteo Darmian is another former Parma player, having made 36 Serie A appearances for the Ducali between 2019 and 2020, and also scoring against them in last season’s 2-2 draw. Ange-Yoan Bonny, the most recent arrival in the Nerazzurri squad, made 109 league appearances for Parma (37 in Serie A), scoring 12 goals, including six in the top flight.

THE OPPONENT: PARMA

Parma have collected 42 points after 34 matchdays in Serie A, thanks to ten wins and 12 draws. That tally has secured the Gialloblù’s survival with four games to spare. Cuesta’s side are in strong form, having won their last two league matches without conceding (1-0 against both Udinese and Pisa). After those clean sheets, Parma now have the chance to keep three consecutive shutouts in Serie A for the first time since February 2014. The Ducali are unbeaten in ten of their last 12 away matches (six wins, four draws), and since mid-November only Inter (nine), Milan (eight) and Como (seven) have recorded more away wins than Parma’s six, joint with Juventus, Bologna and Napoli.

Cuesta has built Parma’s survival on strong defensive organisation. His team are compact and disciplined in a low block, and currently have the ninth-best defence in the league (40 goals conceded in 34 games). Offensively, however, Parma sit 17th in the goals scored table (25). One of their main weapons is set pieces, which account for 40% of their goals (10 of 25), with particular use of aerial strength from striker Mateo Pellegrino. The Argentine forward has been decisive in their survival push: he has scored the most headed goals in Serie A this season (five, ahead of Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram on four), accounts for 32% of Parma’s goals (eight of 25), and ranks fourth in the league for aerial duels won (113), behind Idrissa Touré (135), Victor Nelsson (121) and Tiago Gabriel (114).

Their man of the moment is Nesta Elphege, who has been directly involved in a goal in each of Parma’s last three Serie A matches: an assist against Napoli and goals against Udinese and Pisa. The last Parma player to contribute to a goal in more consecutive matches in the top flight was Sebastian Giovinco, between April and May 2012 (seven in a row).
