Simone Inzaghi will decide on his future Inter Milan in the next few days, with Cesc Fabregas, Patrick Vieira, Christian Chivu, and Roberto De Zerbi in frame to replace him.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Now, the ball is in Simone Inzaghi’s court.
The rumours have been swirling for days now that the 49-year-old could decide to walk out on Inter.
The temptation of a mega money deal with Al-Hilal has been the main cause.
However, Inter’s crushing defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final is another potential factor.
That loss has really cast a dark cloud over the whole Nerazzurri universe. And it has planted a big seed of doubt – is Inzaghi’s cycle at Inter over?
For their part, Inter want to move forward with Inzaghi. The Nerazzurri will offer the former Lazio coach a contract extension worth €6.5 million net per season.
But it is up to Simone Inzaghi to decide whether or not he feels that he’s up to staying at the San Siro.

And the wait for Inzaghi’s decision will not be a long one.
Inter leave for the United States to play in the Club World Cup in nine days. And one way or another, they will have the future of their bench sorted out by then.
Inzaghi will hardly travel with the team to the US and then walk out.
Therefore, the 49-year-old should make his final decision within a day or two. There will be a meeting between he and Inter tomorrow, and that could be the big day one way or another.
Inter will try to convince Inzaghi to stay with guarantees of a strong, competitive project. Above all, the coach wants certain assurances regarding the transfer market.
Then, there will also be a frank discussion about the team’s athletic condition. That had looked to be down the stretch as Inter lost out on the Serie A title and looked absolutely out of gas against PSG.
If Inter and Inzaghi aren’t able to come to terms, then the Nerazzurri will have to move on.
And according to the Gazzetta, there are four main candidates that Inter could build around.
Cesc Fabregas is the hot name. The 38-year-old has impressed in his first season in Serie A management with Como.
However, there are also two former Inter midfielders who could be ideal candidates. Both Christian Chivu and Patrick Vieira have shown a lot of promise.
Lastly, the Gazzetta report, Inter would also consider a move for Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi.
