Ipswich Town ‘explore’ move for Sunderland’s former transfer target Armand Laurienté | OneFootball

Sunderland Echo reports that Ipswich have begun exploring a move for Sassuolo winger Armand Laurienté, Sunderland’s former transfer target.

A Premier League switch appeared close last summer as Sunderland advanced talks with Sassuolo. Laurienté travelled to their pre-season camp for a medical, but complications saw the deal collapse and Régis Le Bris’ side moved on to other attacking options.

The 27-year-old excelled in 2024/25 in Serie B, scoring 18 goals in 33 appearances as Sassuolo sealed an immediate return to the top flight.

He maintained that form last season with seven goals and nine assists, the Neroverdi finishing 11th in Serie A.

It remains to be seen if Ipswich’s interest develops into a formal bid, though Laurienté’s recent productivity is likely to make him an attractive option.
