Valencia have targeted Kayne van Oevelen of Volendam as they look to add a young goalkeeper in the Mamardashvili mould, despite renewing Stole Dimitrievski and following Julen Agirrezabala’s exit.
Voetbal International reports that Ipswich Town have already submitted an offer for the Dutch goalkeeper, while Valencia have yet to formalise a bid beyond personal terms. The report adds that Volendam deemed the proposal too low and turned it down.
Valencia have been in contact with Volendam and a verbal agreement is in place, but the stance of the Eredivisie relegated club remains firm. With Valencia not planning to commit more than two million at the outset, the deal could prove complicated.
The chase comes amid frustrations at right-back, where Thomas Meunier and Andrés García opted for other destinations.
Valencia will focus resources on that position after Thierry Correia’s departure left Foulquier as the only specialist, and he is still recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee carried out in mid-February.
