Lazio are facing stiff competition for Fluminense attacker John Kennedy, as Ipswich Town and others enter the fray.

Lazio Keen to Sign John Kennedy

The Biancocelesti have recently identified the 24-year-old striker as their first option to bolster the attack, which is one of the club’s main priorities this summer. They had previously enquired about Fiorentina’s Roberto Piccoli and Sassuolo’s Andrea Pinamonti before disregarding the Italian duo to focus on the Brazilian striker.

The Italian capital side put €8 million on the table, but their offer fell short of Fluminense’s €12 million. Sources in the Italian press believe the two clubs could find a compromise down the middle. Nevertheless, Lazio must act swiftly and decisively on this front to avoid another disappointment, especially with the competition for Kennedy growing by the day.

Ipswich Town & Others Challenge Lazio for Kennedy

According to Sky Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Fluminense youth product has several other suitors in Europe, including Porto, who are renowned for poaching Brazilian talents, FC Koln, and Ipswich Town, who earned promotion to the Premier League last season.

Previous reports claimed that Championship clubs Wolves and Watford were also in the race, but Kennedy and his family prefer a move to Rome for sporting and personal reasons.

Kennedy’s Attributes, Stats & Contract

Kennedy is a relatively small centre-forward (173 cm) who uses his clever movement and charges to cause havoc inside the box. He has thus far contributed with 37 goals and nine assists in 168 appearances for the Rio de Janeiro club. His contract will expire in December 2027.
