Konrad Laimer and FC Bayern have been negotiating a contract extension for quite some time. The Austrian feels at home in Munich. There have recently been reports of an agreement. Now the defender has spoken out on the matter himself.
Laimer is currently with the Austrian national team. The 29-year-old wants to go as far as possible with Team Austria and still has one group stage match left to play against Algeria.
So far, they’ve recorded a win against Jordan and a loss to Argentina—pretty much the results one would expect.
Several media outlets are now reporting that Konrad Laimer and FC Bayern have reached an agreement. The deal includes a moderate salary increase to just over ten million euros per year, and the Austrian’s contract is reportedly set to run through 2029.
Most recently, even honorary president Uli Hoeneß let slip that the record champions had reached an agreement with the Austrian. Now Laimer himself has spoken out ahead of the Austrian national team’s match against Algeria.

“It’s looking good. It’s normal for so many rumors to circulate from the outside. I’ve always been very relaxed about it,” Laimer said with a smile. He has not yet confirmed a definitive contract extension. Nevertheless, there’s more than enough to read between the lines.
He also told Servus TV: “It’s not official yet. I’m focused on the here and now and hope that we’ll stay here in the U.S. for a very long time. But things are definitely moving in the right direction. It’s a great fit!”
This could indicate that the player and FC Bayern have already reached an agreement, but that the contract won’t be signed until right after the tournament. In any case, fans of the record champions seem to have nothing to worry about anymore.
