Former Championship star Sam Parkin is of the view that Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris deserves praise for so quickly instilling his style into the Black Cats players.

Sunderland went through a tough campaign last season with a series of managerial changes and fell short of their playoff goal by 17 points.

This season, under the tutelage of Le Bris, Sunderland have begun the season impressively and sit in the second place in the table.

Parkin pointed out that during Sunderland’s previous game against Plymouth Argyle, Le Bris’ starting line-up consisted of eleven players who were there last season at the club, which he believes shows how fast the Frenchman has managed to instil his philosophy into his players.

The ex-EFL star also feels that Le Bris has managed to improve the Black Cats players as well since taking over the club and stressed that the Sunderland manager deserves enormous credit for turning them into the team they are right now.

“Eleven starters at Plymouth were all at Sunderland last season; it just shows how quickly he has got his playing style into the players, but also how he is improving the players immediately”, Parkin said on What The EFL.

“I think he deserves enormous credit, from where they were last season to producing what they are.”

Sunderland suffered their first defeat of the campaign against Plymouth last weekend and they will be looking to bounce back against their rivals Middlesbrough on Saturday.
