Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebohang Maboe believes his experience in CAF Inter-club competitions will come in handy for the Soweto giants in the CAF Confederation Cup this season.
The 31-year-old arrived on a free transfer after his exit at Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of last season, rejoining his boyhood club in Naturena.
Maboe amassed over 40 appearances in CAF Inter-club competitions during his time at Chloorkop, and lifted the African Football League [AFL] during the 2023/24 campaign.
Now, with Chiefs participating in continental football for the first time since losing the Champions League final to Al Ahly in 2021, the midfield maestro says he has a key role to play for Amakhosi.
“I think in some games it's [my experience] going to come in handy because I know how it feels playing away, I know the pressure of playing in this competition especially,” said Maboe.
"The previous game [vs Al Masry] gave us a sense that we are in control in Egypt, but we didn't convert the chances, we didn't score. But we will definitely grow in the tournament, that's for sure.
Chiefs will lock horns with Egyptian juggernauts Zamalek SC in matchday two of the CAF Confederation Cup group stages at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday (15h00).
While the five-time Champions League and two-time Confed Cup winners will be looking to reclaim the top spot in Group D, The Glamour Boys will be eager to register their first win of the campaign.
