Filippo Conticello has slammed the agent of Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi for ‘harming’ his client’s faltering career.
In his recent Gazzetta dello Sport column via FCInterNEws, Conticello accused Frattesi’s entourage, Giuseppe Riso, of damaging his career.
Frattesi’s topsy-turvy stint at Giuseppe Meazza is at a crossroads.
Low in the pecking order, the 25-year-old has recently filed a transfer request amid Roma’s effort to bring him back to the capital.
However, Conticello doesn’t believe Frattesi did it on his own. Instead, he suspects Riso had his hand in the matter.
Indeed, Riso seems determined to take the Italy international away from Inter during the January transfer window.
But Simone Inzaghi will do everything to stop him in his tracks.
The only way for Inter to sanction Frattesi’s departure this month would be for someone to come forward with a €45 million bid.
“In reality, it was not the player who openly broke with the club,” he wrote. “He’s not that type, he always trains at his best.
“But in recent weeks, external pressure has grown to find an exit strategy.
“Agent Beppe Riso pushes more than his client and has a friendly ally in Roma, Davide’s old home; all legitimate, it’s a Pirandellian game of roles, but are we sure that this approach benefits this 25-year-old talent?
“Today, Frattesi competes for trophies in an elite team, but he must do so with a ‘heavy’ mind.
“Against Milan and Venezia, he managed to create a series of chances, his trademark, but at crucial moments, he wasted much more than usual: it’s fair to question whether his mind is elsewhere.
“And if the plan envisioned by his ‘entourage’ does not materialize, it will be even more difficult to refocus solely on the Nerazzurri starting in February.”
