Enzo Maresca received a pay out of £4.3m from Chelsea when he left the club in January according to reports in Italy.

The Italian signed a five year deal in the summer of 2024 as Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement, and had a successful first season in charge.

Maresca got Chelsea back into the Champions League, and won both the Conference League and Club World Cup.

However, this season things were more difficult, and it’s clear there were major issues behind the scenes with the ownership.

Maresca wasn’t happy with a number of things, including not getting a new centre back to replace the injured Levi Colwill.

The 46-year-old effectively quit on New Years Day leaving Chelsea in a very difficult and reportedly unexpected position mid season.

It had been claimed Maresca waived a £14m payout, but Italian outlet CalcioMercato have reported he received £4.3m.

The former Leicester boss has been out of work since, but is viewed as one of the favourites to replace Pep Guardiola when he decides to leave Manchester City.
