Italian media have raised serious concerns about Inter Milan and their defensive fragility under Cristian Chivu after the 3-1 defeat to Napoli, arguing that the collapse exposed structural and individual weaknesses that had already appeared earlier in the season.
The focus is especially on the manner of the goals conceded, with the press describing Inter as a team that “collapsed collectively and individually,” gifting Napoli “two childish goals” that turned the match.
The analysis highlights the “central runway” granted to Scott McTominay from a seemingly harmless Spinazzola ball.
Furthermore, Cristian Chivu must regain some defensive stability in his side as soon as possible.
According to Italian outlets, these episodes revived old doubts: is this Inter truly solid without the ball?

The criticism extends to individuals as well.
Earlier in the season, De Vrij was blamed for imbalances.
Meanwhile in Naples it was Acerbi described as disoriented, and Akanji labelled out of sync.
The press argue that despite Inter’s long winning run, defensive warning signs were visible in Serie A and Europe.
Conceding three in one blow, and losing a second big match after the defeat to Juventus, has reopened the debate.
The verdict is not alarmist, but clear: it is “too early for panic,” especially after a strong first half.
However, Inter must regain defensive stability immediately.
Without it, Italian media insist, “you don’t win titles – not in Serie A, and certainly not in Europe.”
