Marcus Rashford was left out of Manchester United’s matchday squad for a third consecutive game on Sunday.
Fans will be hoping Ruben Amorim can disregard the outside noise and put his full focus on the matches in front of him while navigating the most hectic part of the fixture schedule, as dealing with the consequences of a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth while continuously being pressed on his No.10’s absences would send any manager up the wall.
It is, however, a controversial matter, and one that Amorim would have known would steal the headlines from the moment he dropped Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho for the Manchester derby. Then, when the Englishman’s candid admission of seeking a ‘new challenge’ followed his omittance, supporters began to question whether there was more going on behind the scenes.
That seems to be the case now, it seems. Three straight matches without Rashford involved at all have just opened up the matter for widespread debate, with some fans even pondering whether their homegrown talent has played his final game in red.

It’d be a truly awful way for Rashford to bow out at Old Trafford. A Wythenshawe-born Carrington graduate parting ways with the club he’s represented since he was seven years old, without as much of a final goodbye to those who’ve watched him grow from a boy to a man… it’s just not what United is about.
His former teammate, Phil Jones, weighed in on the matter after learning of Amorim’s team selection on Sunday. He told the BBC, as cited by UtdDistrict: “I feel sorry for Marcus Rashford. I know there’s that little kid in him who loves playing football and loves the club.
“It has been a difficult period for him and a hard one to deal with. In hindsight, he will look back and think, ‘I might have been able to handle it all a bit better.’
‘It’s clear that he’s not enjoying football. He has to detach himself from the outside noise, and he has to get back to enjoying playing football again.”
