Lionel Messi has hailed Argentina's achievement of reaching successive World Cup finals.

Argentina overcame adversity again to reach the 2026World Cup final after a 2-1 win against England in Atlanta on Wednesday night.

The world champions trailed to Anthony Gordon's goal with only five minutes remaining, but staged another dramatic comeback to reach a second straight final.

Enzo Fernandez fired in an equaliser from distance, before Messi crossed for Lautaro Martinez to head home the winner in stoppage time.

Argentina will now face Spain inthis weekend's final in New Jersey, as the holders aim to become only the third nation to win successive World Cup tournaments.

Reflecting at full-time, Messi called Argentina's achievement of reaching consecutive finals 'crazy'.

"It's crazy what this group has just achieved once again, reaching a World Cup final. We come from being world champions, we have been the best over the last four years,"Messi said.

"No matter who it hurts or what they say, today we place ourselves again among the two best in the world, and that shows everything we did is not by chance and that no one gave us anything.

"Reaching two World Cup finals in a row is no small feat, and this group achieved it."
