Former Premier League striker Darren Bent has revealed whether he’d start Reece James in England’s best eleven.
With the World Cup taking place next summer Thomas Tuchel will be using the qualifiers to assess his players and decide what his strongest team is.
England take on Andorra at Villa Park on Saturday, before facing a trip to Serbia on Tuesday which will offer a tougher test.
Reece James is currently the only Chelsea player in the England squad, with Cole Palmer still sidelined with a groin issue.
James has a real opportunity to cement his place at right back with Trent Alexander-Arnold perhaps surprisingly left out of the squad.
James scored a brilliant free kick on his last appearance for England.
The 25-year-old is now back fit again and appears to have put his injury issues behind him, but has started just one of Chelsea’s opening three league games.
James scored a brilliant free-kick for England against Latvia, and will be hoping to once again make an impact in the upcoming fixtures.
England have two great options at right back, and Bent has revealed if he’d pick James in his best England line-up.
“I’ve gone for Reece James at right-back,” he told talkSPORT.
“I really like him in terms of the all-round package. I know Trent [Alexander-Arnold’s] range of passing is better, but I think as an all-round full-back.
“Technically Reece James is as good as they are. His problem is fitness, Reece James’ range of passing is beautiful, and you saw his free kick for England, bang.”
James’ England career has been plagued by injury issues, but he now has an opportunity to establish himself in the team under Tuchel.

The Chelsea captain has just 19 caps for The Three Lions, and a player of his quality should have many more than that.
It will be interesting to see how he does in the upcoming fixtures, but it appears at this stage the right back position is his to lose.
