Jack Grealish professed his love for the club and dedicated his opening goal in royal blue to the fans after scoring the 93rd-minute winner in the 2-1 comeback win over Crystal Palace at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Grealish has made a strong start to life on Merseyside and won the player of the month award in August after registering four assists in his first two starts. He has also been the Blues’ regular source of creativity down the left flank.

The 30-year-old finally opened his goalscoring account for the Toffees with an opportunistic finish from close range after Dean Henderson’s save off Beto was spilled towards him by Victor Munoz.

What followed next was an eruption of joy, emotions, ecstasy and celebration in the stands as Grealish ran towards the side where his parents were seated before being embraced by his teammates as the Blues secured their first win in over a month.

“I'm over the moon to get my first goal and to do it here at Hill Dickinson in front of the fans, my family and in the last minute as well to win the game,” Grealish told evertontv. “It was an unbelievable feeling.

“Do you know what’s mad? In the last few games when we’ve been here, we’ve been drawing and I keep saying to myself in the 85th minute: ‘Come on Jack, imagine if you scored now’. I did it against Villa and West Ham and didn’t score, so today I said the same thing again and scored!

“I ran to where my mum and dad were, that was nice, and that goal goes to all the Evertonians who’ve made me so welcome.

“The way they've made me feel since I've come here when I see them, not even at the stadium but just around the place, it's so nice.

“There's no better feeling in life than to feel loved.”

Crystal Palace were on a 19-game unbeaten streak before their trip to Bramley-Moore Dock and beat both Liverpool and West Ham 2-1 in their last two Premier League outings. Oliver Glasner’s side began the match against Everton on the front foot and dominated proceedings in the first half before Munoz scored eight minutes before the break.

Jean-Philippe Mateta had a series of chances to kill the game in the second half but failed to make them count. A foul on Tim Iroegbunam in the box led to Iliman Ndiaye scoring the equaliser from 12 yards and once that moment took place, Grealish knew that the match was going only one way.

“I think, to be fair to Palace, they're such a good team,” said Grealish. “I knew they were good, but they were really, really good, especially in the first half.

“We came in (at half-time), we spoke about stuff that we could improve on and we got after them a bit more.

“We made a few subs who I thought were brilliant, Charly (Alcaraz) and Beto, when they came on.

“I felt like we just went for it.  We felt the fans were with us in the second half and especially when we scored the penalty, I felt like there was only going to be one winner and luckily it was us.”
