Manchester City supporters will not be seeing Jack Grealish link-up with Jose Mourinho in Turkey, after new reports revealed an approach made by Fenerbahce.

Grealish’s uncertain City future has dominated discussion in recent weeks, with the 29-year-old having long faced an uphill battle to reclaim a guaranteed place under Pep Guardiola.

Following a frustrating 2024/25 season, impacted by injuries and tactical shifts, Manchester City are now open to loaning out the England international, provided the financial package seems fair on their portion of wages being covered simultaneously.

Grealish has attracted interest from both domestic and European clubs, but the player himself has shown a preference to remain in England. This stance is partly motivated by personal reasons, with reports previously suggesting a desire to stay in the north of the country.

That has effectively ruled out overseas destinations despite inquiries from Napoli earlier this summer and now a high-profile offer from Turkey.

According to a new report from MailSport’s Mike Keegan and Jack Gaughan, Turkish giants Fenerbahce have been knocked back with an ambitious move for Jack Grealish this summer, while Everton open talks over a potential season-long loan deal.

The report reveals that those with knowledge of the situation believe a move for Grealish may not materialise until late in the summer transfer window, given the belief that a number of clubs who are interested are yet to come forward.

Additional reporting from journalist Fabrizio Romano also clarifies that during talks on Wednesday, Everton have asked City for Grealish on a straight loan agreement, with no discussions over a buy option.

While the Merseyside club are willing to cover part of hefty salary – reported to be £300,000-per-week – talks are still at an early stage, according to Romano, and more clubs remain keen and are calling to be informed on the situation.

Manchester City are not actively pushing Grealish out of the club but are certainly open to solutions that benefit both the player and themselves. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola still has a wealth of options in wide attacking areas, including Jeremy Doku, Savinho, Phil Foden, Oscar Bobb, Omar Marmoush, and new signing Rayan Cherki.

Jack Grealish’s decision may yet hinge on whether a more competitive or stable Premier League side comes forward. The likes of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham have both shown historic interest but are yet to enter formal talks this summer.

For now, Everton remain the most advanced in the race. But with the player unwilling to rush a decision, and City aware that late-window exits can sometimes yield better financial outcomes, negotiations may drag on until the final weeks of August.
