Leeds face the prospect of Sebastiaan Bornauw pushing for a winter departure, amid suggestions Daniel Farke could try to keep him at Elland Road. Het Nieuwsblad reports that the Belgium defender wants to leave after limited minutes this season.
Bornauw joined from VfL Wolfsburg for £5.1m in July and featured for just two minutes across the first 18 Premier League matches. The outlet says his lack of action has left him fearing he may miss the World Cup this summer.
After Joe Rodon suffered an ankle injury at Sunderland, Bornauw started twice, helping secure a 0-0 draw at Liverpool and a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Elland Road.
The report adds that those displays may have complicated any exit by impressing Farke, who is now expected to try to deny a move. It also says Leeds and the head coach had been open to a departure earlier this month, but the stance has shifted.
TEAMtalk reports that Leeds are trying to sign Union Berlin centre-back Danilho Doekhi, who is into the final six months of his contract and is not renewing. If a deal materialises, it would offer cover behind Pascal Struijk, Jaka Bijol and Rodon, and Bornauw’s exit hopes could hinge on that.
