Fenerbahce are reportedly set to swoop in for Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho as he continues to falter at loan club Aston Villa.
Currently in the final year of his United contract, it seems like Sancho will almost certainly leave the club as a free agent at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
United retain the option of extending his stay by an additional 12 months but there is little to suggest that the club will do this. His performances at Villa certainly haven’t helped.
Having spent last term on loan at Chelsea, the Blues rejected the chance to make Sancho’s signing a permanent one. There were suitors for him during the summer transfer window but he turned most of them down before eventually sealing a season-long loan transfer to Villa.
He has yet to start coming up with the goods at Villa despite the club’s resurgence over the past few weeks.
Sancho has made just seven Premier League appearances for Villa. He has mostly had to be content with minutes in the Europa League. He has yet to register a goal contribution for the Birmingham outfit.
The Englishman reacted angrily last week when taken off in Basel. Sancho reacted by striking a dugout seat as he walked towards the bench.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Sancho held talks with Turkish giants Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Besiktas.
Now, a new update has indicated that Fenerbahce are prepared to step up their pursuit of Sancho, having made him their top transfer target.
According to Turkish-Football, “Fenerbahçe have reportedly launched a concerted effort to sign English winger Jadon Sancho.”
“The move is being driven by new Fenerbahçe coach Domenico Tedesco’s specific request for a fast, impactful wide player.”
It’s understood that club President Sadettin Saran is working to shape the Fenerbahce squad to Tedesco’s preference, hence the club’s determination to land Sancho.
Turkish-Football note, “The management team has placed the 25-year-old Sancho at the top of their transfer list, recognising his desire to leave Aston Villa following reported issues with manager Unai Emery.”
A meeting is scheduled to take place between Sancho’s camp and Fenerbahce. United’s willingness to sell Sancho could aid Fenerbahce massively, but a deal will only get over the line if the fee is reasonable.
