The England international has to be considered one of the most disappointing signings in the club’s history.
Manchester United spent two years chasing the winger and finally secured his signature for the hefty sum of £73 million from Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho was never able to reproduce anything like his level in Germany once in England and fell out with Erik ten Hag in 2023. He has since played on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa.
His time at Villa Park has hardly been spectacular, despite the Villans’ success domestically and in Europe.
He has scored one goal, which came against Fenerbahce in the Europa League last week, but has failed to provide any assists.
Sancho played 78 minutes of Aston Villa’s thrilling 3-2 victory over the Austrian side.
He provided one key pass in the match and completed 90% of his passing attempts.
The English winger was unable to complete his only crossing attempt but remained very dangerous with the ball at his feet.
He completed three of his four dribble attempts, making life difficult for the Austrian defence.
The 25-year-old did not have any shots on goal in the game, in spite of his side scoring two goals during the encounter. He also failed to attempt any tackles in the match, as he did not contribute much defensively.
Sancho will be pleased that he has been in the first team more recently after three consecutive starts, and will hope he can be involved again against Brentford on Sunday in the Premier League.
According to Football Insider, “Jadon Sancho will have to look for a new club at the end of the season as he is unlikely to remain at Aston Villa and he is not part of the plans at Man United.”
This is in spite of seeing increased play time in recent weeks and receiving words of encouragement from Villa manager Unai Emery, praising his talent.
SSC Napoli and Turkey have been touted as two potential destinations for the England international in the summer.
