Rangers captain James Tavernier will not be present for the Light Blues’ Scottish Premiership game against Hibernian at Ibrox tonight following a bust-up with Danny Rohl, according to the Scottish Sun.
The defender was expecting to say goodbye to Rangers fans at tonight’s final home league match of the 2025-26 season.
However, Rohl dropped Tavernier from his starting line-up and the Bears hero had an exchange with the Light Blues boss.
The 34-year-old proceeded to speak with his Rangers teammates at their prematch meeting before storming out of Ibrox.
Tavernier will not attend tonight’s Premiership clash with his family and plans to have former Rangers star John Greig make an official presentation on behalf of the club to him has now been cancelled.
He was taken off in the 3-1 defeat to Celtic on Sunday but was expecting to start tonight.
However, Rohl has other plans and the Englishman may have played his last game for the Bears.
The Light Blues play Falkirk away from home in their last game of the season on Saturday and Tavernier could miss the trip.
He has played 52 times across all competitions this term and will be gutted not to end his Rangers career with another league title.
The Bears skipper announced in April that he was going to leave the Ibrox club when his contract expires at the end of this season.
However, the decision caught Rangers off-guard as they were anticipating further talks over his future.
Tavernier deserves to bid the fans farewell after almost 11 years at the club, and the situation has not been handled well.
He has been linked with clubs in England ahead of the summer transfer window, and he will not be short of suitors given his quality, experience and soon-to-be status as a free agent.
